As part of the KS4 curriculum, students have been learning about organisation of the human body. The focus has been on the heart, components of blood and blood vessels. To bring the topic to life, students carried out a heart dissection to examine how the heart works, blood vessels attached to it and the flow of blood to, from and within the heart.
It was a very exciting lesson for the students as most of them had never dissected an organ before. This made the theory work more practical and allowed them to ask questions as well as gaining a deeper interest in Science as a subject.
