Science at RAP allows students to enhance their maths and literacy skills, work scientifically by carrying out practical experiments and gain a deeper through questioning, exploring ideas and finding answers for themselves whilst making connections to previously learning.
We use Activate Kerboodle which is packed full of guided support and ideas for running and creating effective Key Stage 3 Science lessons, and assessing and facilitating students’ progress. The course includes Genetics, Preventing and treating disease, Pathology, Hybrid Electric Cars, DNA in court cases, Hospitals- Intensive Care, Discovering the universe, Detecting Planets and alien life.
At KS4 we use the AQA GCSE Combined Science Trilogy course to teach and assess students. This now includes core required practicals to facilitate pupils learning and bring to life the theory element of the course. This qualification is linear, which means that students sit all their exams at the end of the course.
